Tiling costs

Tiling costs are easiest to compare when labour, tiles and preparation are separated. The same floor area can produce different totals because the substrate and chosen detail differ.

Labour and material choices

Specify tile type, size, pattern and the required finish. A basic layout and a room with niches, corners or intricate patterns are different jobs. Confirm who supplies materials and spare tiles.

Preparation is part of the job

Removal of old coverings, repairs, levelling and waterproofing may be needed before the visible finish. Include disposal and protection of retained areas in the specification.

Measure the right surfaces

Distinguish floor and wall areas and record openings or difficult junctions. Small rooms can still involve considerable cutting and preparation. The floor footprint alone is not a complete bathroom measurement.

Use a project quote

The tiler cost guide provides sourced starting-price context. An itemised quote should establish materials, labour, VAT and any additional work for your room, with changes agreed before they are carried out.
