Describe the existing surface
Explain whether old tiles or coverings will be removed and what is known about the underlying wall or floor. Photographs help identify questions for the survey. Include any planned changes to plumbing, heating or layout.
Record the tile design
Specify tile size, material, pattern, joint width, trims and niches. Large formats and complex cutting require a different scope from a simple rectangular area. Confirm who supplies the tiles and replacement material.
Compare included work
Separate demolition, disposal, levelling, waterproofing where needed, adhesive, tiling, grout and sealant. Ask how substrate defects or design changes will be priced and approved.
Agree the sequence
Coordinate with installers and other finishing trades. Include curing times and the point at which the room can be used. A clear handover specification makes it easier to assess the result.
