Costs and included work
For winter painting costs, compare the scope first: substrate, preparation, coating system and number of coats. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.
| Work / price basis | Starting indication | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Winter painting costs | Price on request | Substrate, preparation, coating system and number of coats |
What affects your total?
A winter discount is not an entitlement. Scheduling, interior or exterior work and suitable application conditions remain decisive. Rot or crack repairs, masking, access and colour changes affect preparation. A square-metre rate for a flat wall does not automatically apply to window frames, stairs or exterior work.
What to send with your request
Send surface area, photos of the substrate, interior or exterior location and desired finish. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Check the conditions
Temperature, moisture and drying affect coating performance. The decorator should follow the chosen product's requirements and assess conditions at the time of work.
Plan indoor work
Interior decorating may fit a winter schedule, but ventilation, heating and room use still matter. Agree protection and access in an occupied property.
Compare actual quotations
Ask for the proposed timing, preparation and materials. Any seasonal price should be a genuine quotation for the defined work, rather than an unsupported percentage saving.
