If a stain is linked to a leak or damp, address the cause first. The decorator can then specify preparation and an appropriate coating for the remaining surface condition.
Protect the room
Agree how furniture, floors, lighting and walls will be protected. Clarify responsibility for moving or disconnecting electrical fittings.
Specify the finish
Room lighting can reveal surface irregularities. Discuss the expected result and whether repairs or replastering are needed, and confirm what the quotation includes beyond paint application.
