Dormer painting costs

Painting a dormer involves exposed joinery or cladding and access at roof level. The dormer's condition and material determine the required preparation.

Costs and included work

For dormer painting costs, compare the scope first: substrate, preparation, coating system and number of coats. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.

What affects your total?

Width, roof pitch, window layout, crane access and internal finishes are assessed together; a module price is not a complete conversion. Rot or crack repairs, masking, access and colour changes affect preparation. A square-metre rate for a flat wall does not automatically apply to window frames, stairs or exterior work.

What to send with your request

Send surface area, photos of the substrate, interior or exterior location and desired finish. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.

Inspect the whole detail

Check coatings, joints, roof junctions and signs of leakage or decay. Repairing a building defect is different from repainting its visible surface.

Plan safe access

The contractor should assess scaffolding or other suitable access and protect the roof covering. High-level work can be a significant part of the quotation.

Define the included surfaces

List frames, fascia, side panels and trim separately where needed. Confirm repairs, materials, protection and cleanup, and request maintenance advice for the selected finish.
