  1. Agree the layout

    Coordinate cabinets, appliances, worktop, circulation space and required connections.

  2. Survey the existing kitchen

    Have dimensions, walls, floor, water, drainage, ventilation and electricity assessed.

  3. Final installation drawing

    Use the kitchen supplier’s final information as the basis for preparation.

  4. Quote and deliveries

    Define the construction and supply responsibilities, then plan delivery, installation and temporary facilities.

  5. Remove the old kitchen

    Have services safely disconnected and the agreed elements dismantled and removed.

  6. Building preparation

    Make the agreed wall and floor alterations, with structural changes assessed in advance.

  7. Adapt the services

    Have suitable specialists prepare the connection points and service routes.

  8. Finish walls and floors

    Prepare surfaces and finishes around the kitchen installation sequence and drying times.

  9. Fit the kitchen and worktop

    Measure and install the ordered components in line with the supply agreement.

  10. Connect and test

    Connect appliances, water and drainage and have their operation checked.

  11. Handover

    Inspect doors, drawers, connections, finishes and any outstanding items together.

What should you prepare for the site visit?

Use the final kitchen design and installation plan, including dimensions and appliances. Clarify who supplies, fits and connects the kitchen. Discuss cooking and washing-up arrangements while it is out of use.

Which documents should you keep?

Inspect cabinets, drawers, doors, worktops and visible finishes. Have the relevant trades check connections and appliances. Keep product information, connection details and agreements for items supplied later.

Can preparation start before the kitchen plan is final?
