Costs and included work
For timber window and door frames, compare the scope first: measurement, frames, glazing, fixings and surrounding finishes. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.
| Work / price basis | Starting indication | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Timber window and door frames | Price on request | Measurement, frames, glazing, fixings and surrounding finishes |
What affects your total?
Fixed panes, tilt-and-turn windows, doors and sliding doors differ in hardware and installation. Specify removal, disposal, glazing, ventilation, sills and interior and exterior making good.
What to send with your request
Send width and height of each opening, photos, preferred materials and opening direction. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Choose the complete frame
Compare the timber, profile, glazing, opening sections and hardware together. Ask for the proposed finish and relevant product information rather than relying on a general claim about all timber frames.
Design against moisture problems
Junctions, drainage and the connection with the facade need proper detailing. Existing openings should be assessed before replacement, including concealed timber where it becomes accessible.
Maintenance and repair
Follow the supplier's instructions and inspect the finish and joints periodically. Local deterioration should be assessed before repainting. The appropriate maintenance timing depends on exposure and actual condition.
Compare installed costs
Include glazing, removal, fixing, sealing, painting and surrounding repairs. Use the same measured openings and finish requirements when comparing alternatives. Retain colour and product details for future care.
