Costs and included work
For installing a sliding door, compare the scope first: measurement, frames, glazing, fixings and surrounding finishes. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.
| Work / price basis | Starting indication | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Installing a sliding door | Price on request | Measurement, frames, glazing, fixings and surrounding finishes |
What affects your total?
Dimensions, the number of sliding sections, glass weight and any new supporting structure are budgeted separately. Fixed panes, tilt-and-turn windows, doors and sliding doors differ in hardware and installation. Specify removal, disposal, glazing, ventilation, sills and interior and exterior making good.
What to send with your request
Send width and height of each opening, photos, preferred materials and opening direction. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Surface-mounted or concealed?
A door sliding along a wall needs clear wall space. A concealed system requires a suitable wall cavity and coordinated construction. Existing services and the wall's function must be assessed before alteration.
Door leaf and hardware
Discuss dimensions, weight, track system, handles and the required appearance. Ask how the installation will be adjusted and accessed for maintenance. A decorative internal door differs from an external weatherproof assembly.
Prepare the opening
Record whether the opening will remain the same size and which wall or floor finishes need reinstatement. Structural or fire-related requirements should be assessed where relevant to the location.
Compare the whole job
Separate the door, track or pocket system, building alterations, installation and finishing. Confirm what is supplied by each party and check smooth operation and clearances at handover.
