Assess loads and positioning
Panel arrangement, exposure and the selected mounting system affect the design. Have the building and roof assessed for the proposed installation rather than assuming a flat surface is sufficient evidence of suitability.
Protect the roof system
Discuss how mounting, cable routes and access interact with the waterproofing, insulation and drainage. A covering nearing renewal may need attention before equipment is installed.
Plan inspection and access
Allow for access to outlets, edges and equipment requiring maintenance. Keep the system layout and roof records together so future repairs can be planned without unnecessary disruption.
Define the price
Ask for panels, inverter, mounting, electrical connection, lifting and any roof work to be listed separately. Compare output estimates using their stated assumptions about shading, orientation and household use.
