Costs and included work
For removing tree roots, compare the scope first: survey, groundworks, landscaping materials and waste removal. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.
| Work / price basis | Starting indication | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Removing tree roots | Price on request | Survey, groundworks, landscaping materials and waste removal |
What affects your total?
Assess services and nearby foundations. Discuss grinding or controlled excavation; salt or other substances are not a standard solution. Access, ground conditions, level differences and existing planting can make a flat rate per square metre misleading. Discuss specialist landscaping with a gardener; it is not automatically part of a building contract.
What to send with your request
Send garden dimensions, changes in level, desired layout and access width. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Define the objective
Explain whether the work is for replanting, paving or construction. Stump grinding and complete excavation leave different conditions and should not be treated as equivalent.
Assess the surroundings
Identify services, boundaries and nearby trees or structures before work. Cutting roots of a retained tree can affect its health and stability, so obtain suitable specialist advice.
Agree disposal and reinstatement
Specify the depth and extent of removal, handling of material and the required finished level. Coordinate with the next trade because ground suitable for planting is not automatically ready for building.
