Costs and included work
For landscaping, compare the scope first: survey, groundworks, landscaping materials and waste removal. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.
| Work / price basis | Starting indication | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Landscaping | Price on request | Survey, groundworks, landscaping materials and waste removal |
What affects your total?
Access, ground conditions, level differences and existing planting can make a flat rate per square metre misleading. Discuss specialist landscaping with a gardener; it is not automatically part of a building contract.
What to send with your request
Send garden dimensions, changes in level, desired layout and access width. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Plan the connection to the building
Door thresholds, paths, drainage and garden levels should be coordinated before building finishes are completed. Record areas and plants that must be protected during construction.
Define garden work separately
Design, paving, planting, tree care and maintenance are different scopes. A clear division avoids assuming that a building quotation includes all garden work.
Prepare a useful brief
Provide photographs, dimensions, access details and your intended use of the space. Discuss specialist planting and long-term care with a gardener and agree who handles garden reinstatement after construction.
