Costs and included work
For landscaper costs, compare the scope first: survey, groundworks, landscaping materials and waste removal. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.

What affects your total?
Access, ground conditions, level differences and existing planting can make a flat rate per square metre misleading. Discuss specialist landscaping with a gardener; it is not automatically part of a building contract.
What to send with your request
Send garden dimensions, changes in level, desired layout and access width. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Describe the outcome
Separate maintenance from design, clearance and construction. Provide photographs, approximate dimensions and access details so quotations address the same work.
Understand the charging method
An hourly rate may exclude materials, machinery and waste disposal. A fixed project price should define quantities, finishes and assumptions, including how additional work is agreed.
Allow for site conditions
Restricted access, poor ground, level changes and retained planting can affect the work. Include surveys or specialist advice where trees, drainage or structures are involved.
Coordinate with renovation
When a building project affects the garden, clarify who restores levels, paths and planting. Specialist landscaping should be separately assessed rather than assumed to be included in the building price.
