Create a maintenance schedule
Identify routine jobs and tasks needed only at particular times of year. Ask a gardener to advise on plant-specific pruning and care rather than applying one schedule to everything.
Set priorities
Access routes, overgrowth and drainage issues may need attention before cosmetic improvements. Record areas to retain and plants that need special care.
Agree the service scope
Specify visit frequency, tasks, equipment and green-waste handling. Larger tree work, paving repairs or landscaping changes may require separate expertise and quotations.
After construction work
A building project can affect soil, access and planting. Include garden reinstatement in the project discussion and arrange specialist horticultural advice where the existing garden has been disturbed.
