Costs and included work
For shed extension costs, compare the scope first: foundation, opening into the existing building, building envelope and finish level. A price is useful only when supply and finishing work are clearly defined.
| Work / price basis | Starting indication | Scope |

| Shed extension costs | Price on request | Foundation, opening into the existing building, building envelope and finish level |
What affects your total?
A basic store is not comparable with an insulated workspace with power and heating. Ground conditions, span, glazing, connections to the house and access determine the work. Kitchens, sanitary fittings, building services and interior finishes are included only when specified.
What to send with your request
Send dimensions, photos of the facade and garden, the proposed layout and available drawings. Include your postcode, preferred schedule and the elements that must remain, so the scope can be assessed.
Decide the function
Discuss access, storage, lighting, power and whether insulation or heating is required. The chosen use affects the floor, roof, openings and finishing.
Assess the existing structure
Do not assume the current shed foundation or walls can support an extension. Have the connection and additional loads assessed. Consider the relationship with the house, drainage and property boundaries.
Plan materials and access
Compare the frame, cladding, roof covering and doors as a complete system. Delivery and waste removal through a narrow side passage may affect the work sequence.
A useful cost comparison
Ask for foundations, structure, roof, services and finishing to be identified separately. Check permissions for the actual location and design. A simple shed supply price is not the cost of a complete attached building project.
