Built-in fireplaces

A built-in fireplace affects the enclosure, ventilation, clearances and sometimes the flue. The appliance type must be selected before the surrounding construction is designed.

Choose the appliance first

Wood, gas and electric appliances have different requirements. Ask the appropriate specialist to assess the location and provide the manufacturer's installation conditions.

Coordinate the building work

The surround, supporting construction and nearby materials must suit the specified appliance. Existing chimney or service connections should be assessed rather than assumed reusable.

Define scope and handover

Separate appliance supply, specialist installation and decorative finishing in the quotation. Obtain operating and maintenance information and clarify who performs commissioning and any required checks.
